Where to I begin with my memories of my Uncle Eddie... So, so many great memories I could go on forever, I will always remember him and my mom sitting in our dining room and having tea and talking very loudly? Us of Irish heritage would say "We are not fighting... we are talking loudly!" We had a lot of those conversations at my Mom's house with my uncle.... I smile thinking about all of them at that table up in heaven, laughing and speaking loudly now lol! I have been remembering all the special times I shared with my Uncle Eddie... From the time we spent down in his basement and him painting a picture on a canvas and him showing me different painting techniques with the stroke of a brush! I use some of those techniques in my paintings today! I think of the time when Uncle Eddie said he would teach me to swim, and he did, by spending countless hours teaching and determined to have me swim and he did! My uncle was a jack of all trades....I should say a King of all trades!! I remember way back when.... Uncle Eddie and Aunt Kathy bought the barracks from Fort Dix and Uncle Eddie said we just have to tare it down and they did.... It seemed like it took forever! At the end of days they would come to their house with literally tons of wood on that truck! Both of them would look exhausted, then they would get up and do it again!! I remember going up on a couple trips and boy there was no goofing off allowed, 😊 and when we would try to goof around and got caught...well lets just say it was the last time we goofed off! My Aunt and Uncle built their home in Pennsylvania, their home here and several other homes! They both were very hard workers! My Uncle Eddie was so proud of my Aunt Kathy he loved her so...and every time he would mention Aunt Kathy, he would just smile a very bright smile! They had a genuine love for one another no denying that!! My Uncle taught me so many different things throughout my life.. I will always remember the day when him and I got drenched while working on my sink, and we laughed so hard that our stomachs hurt! I loved my Uncle Eddie and I so will hold all my good memories and talks him and I shared.... I will genuinely hold onto all the advice he had given me over the years! I could honestly write a book with all my memories that I shared with my Uncle... I will just keep them in my heart and think about them from time to time and smile in remembrance of all them! Thank you Uncle Ed for being in my life growing up, and for always being there for me and for your guidance when I needed it! Rest in peace sweet uncle... Until we meet again I love you Lynnie XOXOXO

Ed was with me the day they dedicated Bellmawr barracks to my late husband, Det. Albert J. Mallen, Sr. My heart goes out to all of you. My second assignment in the State Police was Tuckerton Station. When I arrived, I was greeted by the senior trooper, Ed Devlin. He was a great mentor and a person I always held in high regard. Ed served the New Jersey State Police with honor, duty and fidelity throughout his career and will be missed by all. My condolences to his family.

I loved to hear him and my mom talk about when they were kids. And Uncle Eddie was so funny when he talked about catholic school and the nuns. He drove them crazy. I once asked him how fast could I go and not get pulled over for speeding on the Expressway. He replied, “What is the speed limit" and I told him whatever it was, and he said, “Then that's what you do" LOL. He was something else, and will always be remembered funny and respectfully. I'm sure he is having such a wonderful time talking with all his loved ones who have past. What a gathering that will be!!!!! I wish he could send us pictures 

Aunt Kathy and cousins, along with you, our hearts are so sad today. Eddie was such a loving man from a loving family and he was our patriarch. We were so fortunate to spend time with him on Christmas and had a wonderful visit. I have loved all many the visits we have had over our lives at your house and ours. Every time I think of him, I hear his mischievous and infectious laugh telling his ornery stories. He had the best stories. His always passed along his wisdom of life to us all and I knew his perspective was moral and righteous. Grandmom kept my mom back in school so she and Eddie could go to school together. Mom and Eddie were very close- they were always friends. When they lived in Philly, Grandpop worked away from home. Times were tough all over and so Eddie went caddying after school. The course was near the cemetery (where Grandmom and Grandpop are buried) which was around 5 miles from where they lived. He gave the money he earned to his mother. One time after they moved to Jersey, my Mom was about 17, her mom said they didn’t have anything to eat and that they had to wait for Eddie to come home with money from caddying, and sure enough he did bring it. There were times when they would not have eaten if it wasn’t for Eddie. He was so good to his mother. Even our distant relatives brag about Eddie. He lived a full life. A truly honorable and loved man has left us.
